Climate Stories Theatre

Climate Stories Theatre is a summer program that uses storytelling and performance to introduce young people to climate education in creative, culturally grounded ways. Designed for youth ages 10–16, the program combines theatre, environmental learning, and leadership development to help participants explore their role in shaping a more sustainable future.

The Program

Participants will engage in a series of interactive workshops focused on acting, storytelling, and climate literacy. Through guided sessions, youth will:

  1. Build confidence in public speaking and performance

  2. Explore key environmental themes such as conservation, biodiversity, and climate responsibility

  3. Develop teamwork and leadership skills in a collaborative setting

The program creates a space where creativity meets learning, allowing youth to engage with complex issues in accessible and meaningful ways.

Featured Production – The Adventures of Adey

The program will culminate in a live theatre performance of The Adventures of Adey: In the Simien Mountains. This story follows Adey, a curious young girl who discovers her connection to the natural world while exploring Ethiopia’s landscapes.

Participants will bring the story to life through:

  • Script interpretation and character development

  • Rehearsals and stage performance

  • Creative expression rooted in culture, storytelling, and environmental awareness

Community & Partnership

This initiative is delivered in collaboration with the Ethiopian Community Association of Ottawa, strengthening community engagement and ensuring the program remains culturally relevant and inclusive.

The final performance will be open to families and community members, creating a shared space to celebrate youth voices, storytelling, and climate awareness.
