Santim

Publishing

Santim is the Amharic (Ethiopia) word for "cent"—the smallest unit of currency, seemingly insignificant on its own, yet foundational to value and exchange. It is a reminder that even the smallest voice carries immense worth. At Santim Publishing, we gather these small but mighty voices to build something transformative: a wealth of wisdom capable of reshaping our world.

Rooted in the mission of the Jua Centre, Santim is a dedicated platform for stories that educate, inspire, and ignite action for a sustainable future. We publish voices and visions—from young storytellers to seasoned experts—that explore Indigenous ecology, green innovation, and the connection between people and planet. Whether through the eyes of a curious child on an adventure or the rigorous analysis of a researcher, every story we tell is a story for sustainability.

Kujua Journal

Named after the Swahili word for "to know" or "to learn," The Kujua Journal is our platform for deeper exploration. This publication amplifies diverse voices and perspectives at the intersection of sustainability, Indigenous ecological knowledge, and the emerging green economy. We invite contributions across three distinct categories:

Published Voices (1,000-3,000 words)

Academic and scholarly pieces, including research projects, academic essays, and book or literature reviews that center Indigenous knowledge systems, advance ecological stewardship, and critically examine the transition to a regenerative green economy.

Reflections (600 to 999 words)

Opinion pieces, reflections, and discussion prompts that engage with contemporary issues in sustainability, Indigenous-led conservation, and green industry development, offering fresh perspectives and critical analysis grounded in lived experience and community wisdom.

Creative Connexions (max. 1,00 words)

Our most flexible category, welcoming poetry, photo essays, photovoice pieces, storytelling, animation, and other creative works that honor traditional ecological knowledge, celebrate the relationship between culture and land, and envision just and sustainable futures.
